SUBURBAN GOTHIC trailer – Matthew Gray Gubler & Kat Dennings see dead people

Director Richard Bates Jr.’s last film was a quirky little horror piece called EXCISION, which featured an inspired performance by AnnaLynne McCord and perhaps the best role ever for Traci Lords… it also featured Matthew Gray Gubler (excellent every week on CRIMINAL MINDS). Richard’s new film is SUBURBAN GOTHIC, which re-teams him with Gubler and stars the lovely Kat Dennings. It’s a sort of comedic spin on the whole “I see dead people” concept, and looks like a lot of fun. The cast also includes greats like Ray Wise, Barbara Niven, Sally Kirkland, Jeffrey Combs and the great John Waters. Bates co-wrote the screenplay with Mark Bruner (UNDER THE DOME). Take a look at the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Raymond has a prestigious MBA, but he can’t find work. He can channel the paranormal, but chatting with a cute girl mystifies him. Kicked out of his big city apartment, Raymond returns home to his overbearing mother, ex-jock father, and beer-bellied classmates. But when a vengeful ghost terrorizes the small town, the city-boy recruits Becca, a badass local bartender, to solve the mystery of the spirit threatening everyone’s lives.

SUBURBAN GOTHIC will be released by Filmbuff on January 30, 2015
