Robin Williams, Simon Pegg In First Clip From ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING

AbsolutelyAnything_550

Watching the Monty Python crew on stage earlier this year from their O2 Arena “(Mostly) Live” shows reminded me of how great the troupe could be when they’re firing on all cylinders. That reminder is served up again with the first look at the new movie ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. The film features Simon Pegg as a schoolteacher who is left with infinite powers by a group aliens (voiced by Python members Eric Idle, John Cleese, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam) who think it would be funny to do that to a human. It’s not a Monty Python film, per se, in the way A FISH CALLED WANDA wasn’t really Python, but the members are all present, and (as you can see) it’s highly Pythonesque in its approach.

In this first look, we see Pegg dealing with communicating on a rational level with his dog, voiced by Robin Williams – his last film work before his death in July.

The synopsis is quite scarce:

A teacher experiences a series of mishaps after discovering he has magical powers.

Directed by Terry Jones, and written by Jones and Gavin Scott, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING stars Simon Pegg, Kate Beckinsale, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Eddie Izzard, Meera Syal and Joanna Lumley, with the voices of Terry Jones, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Robin Williams. ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING debuts in the UK on February 13, 2015, with no confirmed US release date so far.
