There are actors we consider “legends” who seem to do very few high profile films now, and it can sometimes make you think they’re a bit out of the game. Then a film comes along that puts them back in the spotlight, and reminds us all they can still command the big screen in a big way. Al Pacino has been working, but most of his recent projects have been smaller films, or in some cases TV work. The new movie DANNY COLLINS is classic Pacino, playing an eccentric singer later in life that discovers a lost letter written to him 40 years ago by John Lennon. It makes him question what sort of person he could have been had he seen this originally. This is written and directed by Dan Fogelman – his directorial debut – but his prior writing credits are pretty impressive… CARS, TANGLED, and CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE are just a few examples. DANNY COLLINS stars Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale, and the great Christopher Plummer. Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Inspired by a true story, Al Pacino stars as aging 1970s rocker Danny Collins, who can’t give up his hard-living ways. But when his manager (Christopher Plummer) uncovers a 40 year-old undelivered letter written to him by John Lennon, he decides to change course and embarks on a heartfelt journey to rediscover his family, find true love and begin a second act.

DANNY COLLINS opens in theaters Spring 2015
