Neill Blomkamp blew folks away with DISTRICT 9 a few years back, giving us a bold Sci-Fi vision in a unique setting and introducing the world to Sharlto Copley. His follow up was the Matt Damon vehicle ELYSIUM, which aesthetically looked cool, but didn’t seem to wow moviegoers as much. Blomkamp’s third big screen effort is CHAPPIE, which he co-wrote with Terri Tatchell and directed. Shot on location in South Africa, very little has been leaked out on the film, leaving many to wonder what to expect. Now we can get a better idea thanks to the first teaser trailer (below) and theatrical poster (above). Sharlto Copley (of course) is the voice of Chappie, and the cast includes Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Sigourney Weaver, Jose Pablo Cantillo, and South African rap group Die Antwoord (Ninja and Yolandi). Take a look for yourself and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

After being kidnapped by two criminals during birth, Chappie becomes the adopted son in a strange and dysfunctional family. Chappie is preternaturally gifted, one of a kind, a prodigy. He also happens to be a robot.

CHAPPIE opens on March 6, 2015
