GOTHAM interview with Erin Richards – on playing Barbara Kean, growing up loving Batman

GOTHAM is rocking and rolling on Fox, and we already posted a few interviews with some of the people behind the hit series, including Erin Richards. But I got another chance to sit down with Erin when she stopped in Dallas at my local comic book store Zeus Toys & Comics to promote the show. We talked a bit about her San Diego Comic-Con experience, developing the character of Barbara Kean for the series, and I made it a point to have her elaborate on a story she mentioned last time we talked involving her love of Batman as a kid… and the best part of all, I got her to do a “Batman” voice. Richards is an actress to keep an eye on, just as talented as she is beautiful, and I’m happy to say she couldn’t be nicer in person. Check out the interview below (it was sunny that day, sorry about the lighting), and look for GOTHAM on Fox.

A cop on the edge. A city on the brink. In Gotham, the road to justice is twisted. Based upon characters published by DC Entertainment and produced by Warner Bros. Television, GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. Starring Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”), Donal Logue (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Terriers,” “Vikings,” “Copper”) and Jada Pinkett Smith (“The Matrix” films, “HawthoRNe”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time. Executive producer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist”) wrote the pilot, which was directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the “CSI” franchise, “Nikita”). John Stephens will serve as an executive producer on the series.

GOTHAM airs Monday nights on FOX
