THE GUEST interviews with Dan Stevens, director Adam Wingard & writer Simon Barrett

guest-interviewsheader

Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett are becoming a filmmaking team to be reckoned with, cranking out movies that become almost instant cult favorites. Did you catch YOU’RE NEXT? That was them. The V/H/S films? Yep, they’re a big part of that too. They’re newest cinematic effort is THE GUEST, a subtle thriller about a mysterious military man who shows up at the home of a family who lost their son in the war. He’s taken in by the folks he just met, and at first it seems like he might be a good thing for their lives… but there’s so much more to it than that. With shades of movies like HALLOWEEN, THE TERMINATOR, and perhaps even a touch of classic Westerns, THE GUEST is one of the more fun and engaging films to hit theaters this fall, and is definitely worth a look. It’s a bold and impressive move forward by Wingard and Barrett, and what will likely be a star-making performance for Stevens who is quite amazing in the lead role. I had a chance to sit in on some roundtable interviews with the trio during their recent Dallas stop on a press tour for the film, and got some great answers to a few burning questions. Check out those interview clips below – big thanks to the lovely Rachel Parker for shooting and editing this video.

First up, here’s star Dan Stevens discussing his training for the role, the Internet and fan suggestions he’d make a great James Bond should Daniel Craig step down, and some of his upcoming film roles:

And here’s Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett on casting Dan in the lead, and their process working together:

A soldier introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.
