I noticed this today when SlashFilm made a post about it.  Being a huge fan of Weird Al Yankovic since childhood, I was immediately blown over by this new fake movie trailer for a Oscar-ish biopic about the legendary parody signer.  Funny or Die manages to get some pretty cool stuff put together, and this is certainly no exception.  This comes from Eric Appel, the genius behind the hilarious Lindsay Lohan eHarmony ad.  With BREAKING BAD‘s Aaron Paul playing Al, the father and mother played by Gary Cole and Mary Steenburgen, Madonna played by TRON LEGACY‘s Olivia Wilde, and Dr. Demento played perfectly by Patton Oswalt, this may just be one of the best faux movie trailers I’ve ever seen.  The idea of Al as a dysfunctional alcoholic who has a secret love affair with Madonna?  Genius.  Even Leeza Gibbons makes a cameo.  All I could think of while watching this was how hard could it possibly be to make a full-length fake biopic using these actors?  If they could put this together just for fun, then why not?  Maybe that should be Funny or Die’s next goal, a full length fake movie.  Obviously the actors are cool being a part of this, so just take it one step further.  Maybe it’s just that the trailer itself is so perfectly made, I don’t know, but you simply must take a look for yourself.  The swelling music and credits at the end are priceless.
