Video interview: Ti West on THE SACRAMENT, cult lifestyle, found footage, and his Western project

Earlier this year at the Dallas International Film Festival, I had a chance to sit down with Ti West, who was showing his movie THE SACRAMENT there. If you haven’t heard about it, the found footage fable pulls back the curtain on a religious cult, with very realistic and often unnerving results. Highlighted by a powerful performance from Gene Jones as the leader, it was a project horror fans would appreciate, but even those not into the genre would also find fascinating, and again shows West’s strengths as a filmmaker. The movie can currently be seen on iTunes/On Demand. In the time we had to chat I asked Ti about finding the idea for this, finding Gene Jones to play “Father”, the ups and downs of found footage films, and his upcoming project – a Western with Ethan Hawke and John Travolta. Check out our full video interview below.

THE SACRAMENT hits theaters June 6, 2014
