MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN interview with director Rob Minkoff on modernizing Jay Ward’s characters

MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN is the new film from Dreamworks Aniamtion, based on the classic characters from the mind of the great Jay Ward. Initially I wasn’t sure if a modern take on the scientific dog and his young male companion would work as a modern day kid film, but the end result is surprisingly great. But I should have known the end result would be fun, considering who directed it. Rob Minkoff worked as an animator for Walt Disney Pictures on films like THE LITTLE MERMAID and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and even co-directed THE LION KING… he was also the man in the director chair for STUART LITTLE. Minkoff has handled animation and live action, and has a wealth of experience in this industry. His work on MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN may just be one of his finest efforts too. I had a chance to sit down with Rob and discuss the new movie, talking about some of his inspirations and motivations behind the project. It’s a rather candid interview with a man who may just be one of Hollywood’s most impressive secret weapons. Check it out below.
