In case you missed it, last night was Jimmy Fallon’s debut episode of THE TONIGHT SHOW on NBC. Taking over for Jay Leno, Fallon already had great success in the late night talk show scene for the past few years on LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON, a slot that will be taken over by SNL’s Seth Meyers starting next Monday. Some folks might not have caught Jimmy’s first episode last night due to the Olympics giving it a later-than-normal start time. But not to worry, we’ve got some video highlights for you below. Fallon’s first guest was Will Smith, with musical guests U2 doing one performance on the roof and a acoustical performance in the studio… and The Roots are still Fallon’s house band. There’s also a fun bit where Jimmy’s doubting buddies have to pay up on a $100 bet that he’d get the gig, which brought in quite a few familiar faces. All in all it was a great first show, though certainly had a more relaxed and later night vibe than what many might be used to for THE TONIGHT SHOW. Most importantly, it brought the show back to New York City for the first time in over 40 years. Check out the highlights below and tell us your thoughts in the comments. Is this incarnation of THE TONIGHT SHOW your cup of nighttime tea?
