We had posted a few trailers for the new comedy SOMEONE MARRY BARRY starring Tyler Labine, and when I was told we might have a chance to interview Tyler… well, let’s just say I jumped at the chance. I’ve always enjoyed the Labine’s work, especially the now classic TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL. This new film pairs him with Lucy Punch (who he’s previously shared the screen with in films like A GOOD OLD FASHIONED ORGY) and both play obnoxious folks who drive their friends crazy, but may just be perfect for each other. We’ve all known someone like “Barry”, but Tyler plays the character with just the right amounts of likability and repulsiveness. You can see the red band trailer below, which is pretty much the same as the other one but with a few new raunchy bits. SOMEONE MARRY BARRY is the feature directorial debut from writer/director Rob Pearlstein (who made the Oscar-nominated short film “Our Time Is Up”) co-stars Lucy Punch (BAD TEACHER), Hayes McArthur (GO ON), Thomas Middleditch (the goldfish guy in THE WOLF OF WALL STREET) and Damon Wayans Jr. (NEW GIRL) …and apparently Ed Helms has a small role in the film too. You can now see it On Demand and through digital download.

In every romantic comedy the nice, sweet, approachable leading man has a buddy who is rude, obnoxious, and unlovable. But maybe that character should be the one the movie is about.

That’s the idea behind “Someone Marry Barry,” the feature directorial debut from writer/director Rob Pearlstein (he previously made the Oscar-nominated short film “Our Time Is Up”). It’s about three dudes (Hayes McArthur, Thomas Middleditch and Damon Wayans Jr.) who just can’t shake their infuriating buddy Barry (Tyler Labine). So they get the idea that the best way to get him off their backs is to marry him off to some unsuspecting woman. But when Barry finally hits it off with Melanie (Lucy Punch), the friends discover she’s more insufferable than he is.

It’s not the first raunchy comedy for Punch and Labine; they previously appeared together in 2011’s “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy.” They also co-starred in 2013’s bloody black comedy “Cottage Country.”

SOMEONE MARRY BARRY is in limited release on February 7, on demand and digital download on February 13
