A few days ago we posted the official trailer for THE RUNAWAYS, the music-heavy biopic starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie.  You can see the final poster for the film above.  I got to see a special advance screening of the film, but I can’t post my review just yet.  Let’s just say this – the girls doa REALLY good job with their respective roles.  Fans of the original band should be pretty pleased.  To show you just how dead on they got some of the performance stuff, check out this new MTV music video for “Cherry Bomb”, in which Dakota Fanning really sings, as does Kristen Stewart on the refrain.  You may have to sit through a short ad first.

And in case you need more convincing, check out this original performance of “Cherry Bomb” from 1977, live in Japan

THE RUNAWAYS opens nationwide March 19, 2010
