Are you a Superman fan? Bigfanboy.com has once again partnered with the historic Texas Theatre to bring you a special opening weekend celebration of MAN OF STEEL in 35mm. Come to the Texas Theatre on Friday at 7:00pm or 10:00pm (June 14), and we’ll be there handing out DC Comics featuring Superman, along with cool promo items (while they last) just for buying a ticket!
We’ve got special promotional copies of ALL-STAR SUPERMAN #1 from DC Comics (courtesy of Zeus Comics and Collectibles in Dallas) which will be handed out to ticket holders while they last. We’ll be on site around 8pm or so, which means you can catch us coming out of the 7pm show, or going in for the 10pm show. As a very special treat we’ll have former Superman comic artist Kerry Gammill on site doing free quick sketches for kids! We’ll also have a limited supply of Kerry’s Superman comics available to purchase for a nominal fee. You could come watch the movie in classic fashion, and get a comic book collectible to take home! The Texas Theatre is a fantastic repertory cinema house, but they occasionally show first run features as well, and on this one we’re helping them do it up in style.
You don’t have to do anything special, just buy yourself a ticket for the 7:00pm show or the 10:00pm show on Friday (June 14) and look for us in the lobby – these are currently the only shows we’ll be around for. Theme attire encouraged! You must show your ticket to get a promotional item. Come join us Friday night for all the fun.
A few notes – if you’ve never been to the Texas Theatre, this is a great place to see movies in a classic environment. Painstakingly restored by the fine folks at Aviation Cinemas, the main house features an impressive 650 seats. Perhaps best known in history as the location where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested, you’ll immediately feel the nostalgia upon entering the doors of this stylish building. The Texas Theatre also has a full bar and plenty of lounge seating, which is a great place to have a drink and talk about the film you’re about to see… or just saw! We’ll be hosting the Friday 10:00pm showing of MAN OF STEEL on June 14.
NOTE: We’e giving away promotional items while supplies last, so if you show up just before the movie starts, there’s a good chance you will NOT get one of them. Be aware of this.
Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Ayelet Zurer, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Russell Crowe. Rounding out the cast are Harry Lennix as U.S. military man General Swanwick, as well as Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.
MAN OF STEEL is set to soar into 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on June 14, 2013.
