Director Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL is about to be unleashed on moviegoers next month, and with comic book movies being all the rage, many are wondering if this Superman reboot will live up to the hype… especially in the wake of Christopher Nolan wildly popular THE DARK KNIGHT trilogy coming to an end. While I realize I’m in the minority, I actually enjoyed Bryan Singer’s SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006) starring Brandon Routh, though it lacked (figuratively and literally) punch, and this new take promises to be big on action and excitement. The newest (and we’re guessing final) trailer shows a lot of that action playing out, while leaving us to wonder exactly what is happening in many of those shots. Michael Shannon seems like an inspired choice for General Zod, and here we get our first look at his right-hand woman Faora (Antje Traue), who in her own right looks pretty evil. I’m anxious to see what Henry Cavill can do with such an iconic character, and so far what we’ve seen looks pretty good. Take a look below and tell us your thoughts in the comments. Also check out the three newest theatrical posters, and of which you click on to make them a lot bigger.
Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Ayelet Zurer, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Russell Crowe. Rounding out the cast are Harry Lennix as U.S. military man General Swanwick, as well as Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.

MAN OF STEEL is set to soar into 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on June 14, 2013.
The new trailer certainly makes it look promising and we know from the other trailers that it’s not just mindless action. Could be good.
The involvement of both Snyder and Nolan with this film makes me feel very cautious, but I’m hoping it lives up to the hype. People bash “Returns” like crazy, but I still think “Superman III” was the worst of them. The only thing that made it watchable were Chris’ scenes with Annette O’Toole.
