This Valentine’s Day has a lot of big releases hitting theaters, with A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD and the new Nicholas Sparks movie SAFE HAVEN, it appears the lover’s holiday is already pretty full. But don’t rule out BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, the big screen version of the popular novel by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. With TWILIGHT closing out its legacy last year, Hollywood is undoubtedly looking for the next big franchise to appeal to the (mostly female) young adult crowd. While I could safely say the film isn’t my particular cup of tea, I’m also smart enough to realize I’m not the target audience anyway, and the story here is just interesting and different enough to separate itself from the aforementioned popular film series it will surely draw comparisons to. Among the talented young cast are Zoey Deutch and Thomas Mann, two up-and-coming talents who have a great look and engaging screen presence, and both stopped through Dallas on the tail end of a press tour which involved talking to select press outlets and meeting the fans. Zoey plays “Emily”, a local schoolgirl who is ultra-religious and judgmental against the female lead “Lena” played by Alice Englert – we all went to high school with someone like Emily at some point. Thomas plays “Link”. best friend to the male lead “Ethan” played by Alden Ehrenreich. After seeing the film, I had a chance to sit down with the two stars and talk about their work in the project, how they found their characterizations, and what lies ahead for each of them. I think you’ll agree after seeing this interview, the next logical step is for these two to headline a comedy and play off each other. Check out the interview below and the movie this Valentine’s Day.
