Hugh Jackman in talks to return as Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Just yesterday we announced that Bryan Singer was bringing back Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, due out July 18, 2014. It’s only natural to speculate that the story, which takes place in the X-MEN: FIRST CLASS “past” coupled with a future for those characters (where McKellan and Stewart would play a role) would then go after even more of the principal cast members. Tonight THR is reporting that it’s been confirmed that Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to star once again as Wolverine in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Jackman had a brief cameo in FIRST CLASS, and has already done one solo Wolverine movie (X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE) with another on the way (THE WOLVERINE opens July next year), so this would in theory make his sixth time to play the character in a starring role (seventh if you count the FIRST CLASS cameo). The question now is will the production be going after more of the original trilogy actors, like Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, or Ellen Page (who played Kitty Pryde, who is a BIG part of the DAYS OF FUTURE PAST comic story). We’re curious to hear your thoughts about the upcoming X-MEN epic, and whether or not you think bringing back original actors to star alongside with the newer cast is in fact a good idea. Tell us in the comments below.
