Video: Thomas Jane chats with Stan Lee about comics, movies, and HUNG

I’m always happy to promote Thomas Jane, not just because he and I have been friends for 8 years, but because he’s a guy who always has something interesting going on. Outside of being a pretty amazing actor (BOOGIE NIGHTS, THE PUNISHER, THE MIST and HBO’s HUNG to name but a few titles), Tom is also an accomplished comic book publisher. His company Raw Studios, co-founded with Tim Bradstreet, has produced some incredible titles featuring work by some of the premiere artists in the industry – Basil Gogos, Bernie Wrightson, Michael Kaluta, Dave Stevens, Mark Schultz, and more grace the covers and pages of books like BAD PLANET and ALIEN PIG FARM 3000. You can also see a beautifully rendered graphic novel adaptation for Tom’s 3-D movie DARK COUNTRY featuring art by Thomas Ott. By why should I tell you about all of this? Just watch Stan “The Man” Lee and Jenna Busch have a few cocktails with Mr. Jane and you’ll hear most of what you need to know. I love how Tom’s comic book fandom shows through toward the end, as he grills Stan about one of the forgotten processes used to make comics cheaper to mail in the good old days.  Incidentally, both Tom and Stan have been guests multiple times at the Dallas Comic Con… so if you’re not already going, you really should be.

The site also features a variety of rare celebrity and filmmaker interviews, and Bigfanboy.com regularly covers the film festival circuit as well. In addition to Hollywood reporting, Mark has worked for many years as an advertising and sci-fi/comic book artist. Clients have included Lucasfilm Ltd., Topps Trading Cards, The Dallas Mavericks and The Dallas Stars. From 2002 until 2015 he managed the Dallas Comic Con, Sci-Fi Expo and Fan Days events in the DFW area. He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
