The idea of a big screen Jack Bauer adventure has been discussed before, but many have started to wonder if it would ever actually happen. Well now Kiefer Sutherland himself has persuaded Fox to hire Billy Ray to write the screenplay for the 24 movie, which is said to be set in Europe. Both Sutherland and the show’s producers have stated that the movie will be “a two-hour representation of a day.” Ray’s previous writing credits include STATE OF PLAY, FLIGHTPLAN, and SUSPECT ZERO – he also wrote and directed SHATTERED GLASS and BREACH.
However, it should be noted that studio insiders are telling Variety (who broke this story, which was followed up on by SlashFilm) that the proposed movie “is still very much in preliminary stages,” and that there are “a number of factors influencing how quickly it moves ahead, including the fate of the TV show.” To date, Fox hasn’t ordered another season of 24, and many expect this season to be the show’s last. The big question is, will Jack Bauer die? Is that what the big screen 24 would give us as a dramatic finale? Do you want Jack to die? Let us know in the comments.
