PROMETHEUS viral video introduces Michael Fassbender as the android “David”

I’ve made no secret toward how excited I am to see director Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi with PROMETHEUS – the trailer is here if you missed it. We’re still almost two months away from the film’s release, but 20th Century Fox is already pumping out viral video to get folks hyped up. Check out the new clip below which introduces Michael Fassbender’s android character “David” from Weyland Industries. While PROMETHEUS has been called a loose prequel to ALIEN, most details of the plot have been kept fairly secretive. This new video just makes things that much more interesting. How will David and his emotional functions play into the story? And am I the only one getting a serious Hal-9000 vibe here? Take a look for yourself and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

PROMETHEUS is set to hit theaters on June 8, 2012.
