So we’ve all heard that Samuel L. Jackson is up for playing Nick Fury (head of S.H.I.E.L.D.) in whatever Marvel Comics films will have him, but the next film on the big screen Marvel slate (Kenneth Branagh’s THOR) may be jumping the gun a little bit. As of right now, Jackson is listed at part of the “official” cast for THOR – Chris Hemsworth (Captain Kirk’s dad from J.J. Abrams’ STAR TREK) is playing the title role. Well in a recent interview with MTV, Jackson was asked specifically about his role in the upcoming film, and his response was somewhat amusing. Sam didn’t even know he was in the movie until he read it in the news himself. But he did have a few suggestions on how to portray Fury’s connection with Thor in the film. Jackson said, “Nobody’s told me anything.” and “I was reading the trades last week and I saw the cast list. My name was in it, so maybe I am doing something that I don’t know about and I’ll hear about it soon.”
In regards to how the Disney purchasing Marvel merger might affect his role, Jackson said “I don’t know what’s going on. Since Disney bought the franchise, I have no idea what Marvel told them or even if my deal with Marvel is still valid.”
And as for his ideas on Fury playing a role in THOR, “It all depends on where they find him. If they’re dealing with that particular timeline… Hey, they’re shooting it in Santa Fe, it’s not like they’re shooting it in Norway.”

I can’t believe that no one has said anything to at least Jacksons management company if not Jackson himslef about this. I would have thought that Marvel would have gotten something (in writing) with Jackson back when they did Iron Man 1 stating that if the role of Nick Fury was revisited in future films, Sammuel Jackosn would agree to at least consider the role if not commit in advance. While they could replace Jackson withs omeone lese I think they (the studios) know how well recieved Jackson has been and trying to replace him would just piss off the fans more then its worth.
Then again Disney is known to be arrogant…
