Okay, so Disney and Pixar kind of dropped the ball last year with the lackluster CARS 2, even getting snubbed by the Academy for a Best Animated Picture nomination at this year’s Oscars. But something tells me they’re about to redeem themselves big time this summer. The new film BRAVE appears to have taken a cue from HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, casting strong Scottish accents for their characters, and even the visuals have a similarity that can’t be denied. That said, the film looks magnificent and gorgeous, and the buzz behind it is already through the roof. This week we’re treated to a new theatrical poster (seen above) and a new Australian trailer/extended clip from the film, which should give you an idea of what to expect. BRAVE is directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman and stars the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane. Does this look as incredible to you as it does to us? Tell us in the comments below.
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
BRAVE is set to hit 2D and 3D theaters on June 22, 2012.
