Morgan Spurlock’s COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN’S HOPE trailer and poster image

I’ve been attending San Diego Comic-Con for the past 17 years… yes, consecutively. 2012 will be the 18th, and I can honestly say the show has gone through a lot of changes, some good and some… well, understandable I suppose. The one certainty is there’s no other convention quite like it, as a fan, as a dealer, as a journalist, or as a guest. Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has clued in on the grandeur of it all, and set his sights on the event for the subject of his latest project – a documentary done in conjunction with executive producers like Joss Whedon and Stan Lee. The film follows three different individuals, a passionate toy collector, a costume enthusiast, and an aspiring comic book artist. There are also interview snippets with people like Seth Rogen, Eli Roth, Kevin Smith and more. Check out the promo poster art below, followed by a synopsis and trailer, and post your thoughts in the comments.

Have you ever imagined a place where Vulcans and vampires get along? Where wizards and wookies can be themselves? Welcome to Comic-Con San Diego. What started as a fringe comic book convention for 500 fans has grown into the pop culture event of the year that influences every form of entertainment, now attended by over 140,000 strong. COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN’S HOPE- a film by Morgan Spurlock explores this amazing cultural phenomenon by following the lives of five attendees as they descend upon the ultimate geek mecca at San Diego Comic-Con 2010.
