PULP trailer and NSFW “STAR WARS” scene – It’s like a British CHASING AMY

The British know their comics, as popular shows like SPACED has already proven. The new Dare Productions movie PULP looks like a bit like CHASING AMY, though I’m guessing there’s enough differences to make it stand solidly on its own. The filmmakers recently gave the project its first audience screening at the SFX Weekender to a reported 1,200 people. As a way of spreading news on the film to the rest of the world, they’ve premiered a trailer and exclusive “offensive and controversial” scene from the movie. The trailer, which leads into the scene, does feature some strong language, and the scene itself is probably not safe for work, also containing strong language and even stronger views on STAR WARS, so please handle with caution. This looks fun, and definitely like the kind of flick I’d enjoy watching with my comic book nerd buddies. No info yet on a U.S. release, but you can follow info on the movie through their Twitter, Facebook, or Official Website.

Directed by Adam Hamdy and Shawn Magher, and written by Bode O’Toole, PULP stars Jay Sutherland, Simon Burbage and Gavin Molloy as three comic nerds who find themselves in a situation where they have the potential to become real life heroes. You also can’t help but love the Punisher-esque character “The Sodomizer” they’re pushing the Birmingham comic book convention. I’d kill to have that prop comic hanging on the wall, just for grins.

Synopsis: Thunder Racers, Infinite Finity, Rat Warriors. Junk Comics’ titles have been referred to as ‘the worst printed material since Mein Kampf’. Tony Leary, the nice-guy owner of Junk Comics, is gearing up for one last roll of the dice. His new superhero title, The Sodomizer, launches at the British International Comic Show, and nothing will stop Tony from making it a success. Nothing except a gang of Geordie criminals who are using a comic company to launder their dirty money. Tony is drafted by the police to identify the culprits and bring them to justice. Aided by his trusty geek sidekicks, Rick and Keith, Tony must defy the odds if he is to become a real life hero.
