Watch our full 25-minute Q&A with MY WEEK WITH MARILYN director Simon Curtis

Last month I had the pleasure of hosting a Dallas screening and moderating a Q&A with British director Simon Curtis, known predominately for his BBC television work on various teleplays with well-known British institutions. This is a man who started his career by working with John Malkovich and Miranda Richardson – nice work if you can get it! His latest project is the critically-heralded MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, which features a fantastic performance by Michelle Williams as the iconic Marilyn Monroe. It’s a great film for Hollywood enthusiasts, and a nice and compact story from the life of the infamous actress. There was a lot of advance speculation that Williams didn’t have what it took to properly portray Marilyn, but everyone in our audience found that to be rubbish by the end, and Curtis proved himself a competent director to helm this fascinating project. As the movie credits rolled, the lights (eventually) came up at the Dallas Studio Movie Grill theater, and Simon and I began to talk candidly about the process of putting this film together, Michelle’s performance, what lies ahead for him and more. It’s 25 minutes of great conversation, including the audience questions as well. My sincere thanks to Simon Curtis for coming to Dallas to share his movie with all of us, and to the fine folks at The Weinstein Company and Allied Entertainment for making this possible.

NOTE: This video has been re-uploaded with adjusted audio. Please forgive the lighting and picture quality, as this was shot on an iPhone 4S in low-light.
