THE AVENGERS first official trailer hits!

The first official trailer (not counting the teaser button after the credits of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER) for next summer’s highly anticipated and long building movie event THE AVENGERS has finally hit the net thanks to Apple and in my opinion, it is simply stunning.  Officially, this one can be considered a teaser trailer as there is very little in the way of story details, but rather a beautiful collection of action shots and quick dialogue cuts that showcase the movie’s grand scale but also the team conflict that will be present as Earth’s Mightiest Warriors are forced to work together to save, or perhaps avenge, their world that is suddenly under vicious attack.

The action looks great, the cinematography is wonderful and the dialogue is great without ever becoming campy.  Tony Stark, A.K.A. Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) shines and seems to be central in this particular trailer and that is fine with me.  From the very little that we get here, you can already see the tension between himself and Steve Rogers, A.K.A Captain America (Chris Evans).

I think there were three things that fans really wanted to see in the first officially released trailer for the film andthe first is the vibe that the movie would have combining all of the different characters that have graced the screen so far in solo adventures and how the different tones from their movies and their individual attitudes would play off each other.  The trailer does give you a good sense of how the different characters will interact as they size each other up and have to overcome the friction that their superhero egos cause when they are suddenly forced to work together.  The next item that everyone wanted to see was how Joss and company would bring the green goliath to the screen and how he would look.  You only get a brief glimpse of the Hulk at the end of the trailer, but if this shot is indicative of the quality they will be bringing, I can honestly say that this will be the most photo-realistic version of the Hulk we  have seen to date.  Last, many fans, myself included, have been wanting to know who or what would be making up Loki’s mysterious army.  Would it be an alien race?  If so, which one.  Looks like we are going to have to wait a little longer to find out.  With the exception of the many shots of the characters looking to the sky and a few shots of purple lasers, there is not much of anything to go on to tell us anymore than we already know.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments?  As a teaser trailer, did this one meet or exceed your expectations or are you let down by the trailer.
