Being a fan of movies like PRIMAL FEAR and THE JACKAL, I enjoy the idea of seeing Richard Gere in dramatic thrillers, and the new film THE DOUBLE looks like it’s very much in the same vein. In the film Gere co-stars with Topher Grace and Martin Sheen… though I must warn you, this trailer is filled with spoilers, including what appears to be the biggest twist in the story – so watch at your own risk. The film also features Odette Annable (YOU AGAIN), Stana Katic (CASTLE) and Stephen Moyer (TRUE BLOOD). It’s written and directed by Michael Brandt, his directorial debut – Brandt was the screenwriter of WANTED and 3:10 TO YUMA. Check it out and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
In THE DOUBLE, the mysterious murder of a US senator bearing the distinctive trademark of the legendary Soviet assassin “Cassius,” forces Paul Shepherdson (Richard Gere), a retired CIA operative, to team with rookie FBI agent, Ben Geary (Topher Grace), to solve the crime. Having spent his career chasing Cassius, Shepherdson is convinced his nemesis is long dead, but is pushed to take on the case by his former supervisor, Tom Highland (Martin Sheen). Meanwhile, Agent Geary, who wrote his Master’s thesis on Shepherdson’s pursuit of the Soviet killer, is certain that Cassius has resurfaced. As Shepherdson and Geary work their way through crimes both past and present, they discover that Cassius may not be the person they always thought him to be, forcing both to re-examine everything and everyone around them.

Born and raised in Dallas, Mark has been a movie critic since 1994, with reviews featured in print, radio and National TV. In 2001 he started the Entertainment section of the Herorealm website, where he contributed film reviews and celebrity interviews until 2004. From 2002 until 2015 he managed the Dallas Comic Con, Sci-Fi Expo and Fan Days events in the DFW area. He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
