UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING trailer – Kate Beckinsale returns

Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of the UNDERWORLD films, though I did like the third film (oddly enough the one Kate Beckinsale wasn’t in) quite a bit.  To me these movies have always seemed dark and moody just for the sake of being dark and moody.  I’ve never quite understood the fascination with them, but apparently there is an audience, as they’ve made enough money to warrant a fourth installment.  I find myself a little forgiving as the creator of the franchise, Kevin Gievoux, is such an incredibly nice guy, and love comic books even more than I do. UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING sees the return of Kate Beckinsale to the franchise, and if the new trailer is any indicator… it’s pretty much exactly the same as the other UNDERWORLD films, which may prove to be a smart move.  This one comes to us from Swedish directors Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, and co-stars Charles Dance, Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, and India Eisley. After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Eve, and when she finds her, they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all.

UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING opens January 20, 2012
