Video Q&A and interview: SARAH’S KEY author Tatiana De Rosnay – plus win a signed book!

If you’re not familiar with SARAH’S KEY, the new movie from Weinstein Company, you should start researching it RIGHT NOW.  It’s easily one of the best films of 2011, and an definite contender for Oscar nominations.  More importantly you should look into the book it’s based on by author Tatiana De Rosnay.  The New York Times best seller is already beloved by those who know, and it’s quickly finding its way into various schools, which is a great thing, as it tells a story many aren’t familiar with.  I recently had the honor (and I mean it when I say that) of hosting a Q&A with Tatiana when she made a special appearance after a Dallas screening of SARAH’S KEY.  One thing I noted to her afterward was that usually when these Q&A sesssions take place, anywhere from 1/4 to a third of the audience doesn’t stick around.  After the screening of SARAH’S KEY, I only saw two people leave.  The rest of the packed house didn’t go anywhere.  Everyone in the audience was given a copy of the book as a gift for attending, which was an added bonus.  Funny thing though, when Tatiana asked who all had read her book already, almost every hand went up.  I later suggested to those who had that they should consider giving their “gifted” book to a friend or family member, so they too could understand why it was so great.  Many said they were already planning to do so.  For those who weren’t able to attend the screening, or who are just hardcore fans of Tatiana, check out video from the Q&A right here.  I apologize for sweating so much, but as she can tell you, it was over 100 degrees in Dallas that day, and I’m a man of some size.  Please check your local listings to see if SARAH’S KEY is playing near you.  It’s a masterpiece in filmmaking, and a phenomenal story.  And in case you were wondering, Tatiana is quite simply a radiant human being.

And next is our one-on-one interview at the historic Stoneleigh Hotel in Dallas, TX. I didn’t want to tell Tatiana the hotel was famous for being haunted, at least not until later. I think I was her last interview of the day, and after seeing her so briefly the night before at the screening, it was great to catch up in a more intimate setting. One thing I noticed watching this video is how much I talk with my hands. Good Lord, someone tie those things down before I hurt somebody. I think it’s my way of expressing excitement. It really was a thrill to talk to Tatiana, and I can’t say enough good things about her or her books. Check out the interview below and leave your thoughts in the comments.  Also thanks to me pal Gadi for filming this, even if he does need to work on his steadiness – love ya man!
