Trailer for Guy Ritchie’s SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS

I knew when we revealed the first two posters for SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS on Sunday of this week, it was only a matter of time before the trailer appeared online.  And now it’s here, thanks to iTunes.  I actually saw this at a sneak preview screening of HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS Part 2, and it played rather well with the audience.  Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are back, joined by returning co-stars Rachel McAdams and Eddie Marsan, THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2009) star Noomi Rapace, Stephen Fry, and Jared Harris as Professor Moriarty.  Guy Ritchie also returns to the director chair.  I love seeing an actor like Jared Harris tackle a character like Moriarty, especially since I’m sure the desire was strong to cast a much bigger name in that role.  Harris is terrific, and this could be a nice showcase piece for him.  Then there’s the obvious featuring of Noomi Rapace, which surprises me a little, since I’m sure there’s still a lot of Americans who have no idea who she is… maybe now they will.  Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room…until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large–Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)–and not only is he Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.
