The trailer for director David Fincher’s adaptation of the wildly popular Swedish mystery THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO is finally here. With a screenplay by Steve Zallian, this take features Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara in the leads, with an excellent supporting cast including Stellan Skarsgård, Robin Wright, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Embeth Davidtz, Steven Berkoff, David Dencik, Alexandra Daddario, Goran Visnjic, and Julian Sands. If you’ve never seen the original, you really should, as it’s better made and more engrossing than most American films of its type, and a star-making performance by the engaging Noomi Rapace as “Lisbeth Salander”, the title role. It also spawned two theatrical sequels, though the original remains the best of the three. This remake trailer is just a visual taste of what we can expect, and in the hands of Fincher you know if will be a slick presentation. The original film is dark and gritty, and perfect source material for THE SOCIAL NETWORK director to mine from. I just hope there’s at least a few noticeable differences, as I have such a strong appreciation for the Swedish production, and I’m not necessarily hoping for a shot for shot remake, but rather a sincere interpretation of what came before. Check out the sneak preview trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Based on Stieg Larsson’s posthumously published crime thriller trilogy, “The Millennium Series.” The book describes the mystery surrounding the long-unsolved disappearance of an heiress. A journalist recently dinged by a libel case and a young female hacker try to resolve it, stirring up bundles of personal and industrial corruption along the way.
