The official trailer for the CONAN THE BARBARIAN remake starring actor Jason Momoa as the legendary Robert E. Howard hero is here. The casting of Momoa raised quite a bit of criticism from fans, though from the looks of this photos and this new trailer, he might just pull it off. He certainly captures the look of the character, at least looking better than I ever imagined he would. It must be tremendously stressful to have your first big screen leading role be that of Conan, so I’m willing to give Momoa a chance on this. Not to mention, the supporting cast is pretty solid. The new movie co-stars Ron Perlman, Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols (my future wife), Rose McGowan, and Leo Howard (as Young Conan, no relation to Robert E. Howard… but wouldn’t that be cool?). The question is after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s memorable turns with the character, will audiences willingly accept a new face in the role? Can Momoa pull it off? Can Nispel (who previously directed the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and FRIDAY THE 13th remakes) show us something on par with what John Milius gave us in CONAN THE BARBARIAN? Time will tell. Tell us your thoughts or expectations in the comments below.
A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.
Look for CONAN THE BARBARIAN this August!
