After having its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the David Schwimmer directed film TRUST was the subject of some controversy, primarily for its subject matter involving a teenage girl tricked in sexual activity by an online predator. Funny how we see this stuff constantly on Dateline‘s “To Catch a Predator” with Chris Hansen, but the second someone tries to dramaticize it everyone gets nervous. If ya ask me, this new trailer (and poster seen above) is rather intriguing. It may not be a subject a lot of people want to see, but I have the feeling it may be a film that should be seen. Plus Clive Owen and the always great Catherine Keener are two actors I’m always up for watching.

A suburban family is torn apart when fourteen-year-old Annie meets her first boyfriend online. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend is not who he originally claimed to be. Shocked into disbelief, her parents are shattered by their daughter’s actions and struggle to support her as she comes to terms with what has happened to her once innocent life. The cast includes Clive Owen, Catherine Keener, Viola Davis, Jason Clarke, Noah Emmerich, Brandon Molale, Nicole Forester, Jordan Trovillion, Liana Liberato, Noah Crawford, Sarab Kamoo, Gordon Michaels, Garrett Ryan, Chris Henry Coffey, and Ron Causey.

TRUST opens April 1, 2011… no foolin! I know, that was a lame joke.
