James McAvoy & Robin Wright star in THE CONSPIRATOR trailer, directed by Robert Redford

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Robin Wright Penn in anything… wait, I’m sorry, it’s just Robin Wright now. But today we have a new trailer for the conspiracy thriller appropriately titled THE CONSPIRATOR. Perhaps even more exciting than the presence of Wright is the movie being directed by Robert Redford, who was last behind the camera in 2007 with LIONS FOR LAMBS. The film stars James McAvoy (soon to be seen in X-MEN FIRST CLASS), Alexis Bledel (SIN CITY), Justin Long (GOING THE DISTANCE), Evan Rachel Wood (THE WRESTLER), Robin Wright, Norman Reedus (THE BOONDOCK SAINTS movies), the great Kevin Kline (NO STRINGS ATTACHED), the also great Tom Wilkinson (THE GREEN HORNET), and Danny Huston (CLASH OF THE TITANS). Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

The synopsis (from IMDB): In the wake of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, seven men and one woman are arrested and charged with conspiring to kill the President, the Vice-President, and the Secretary of State. The lone woman charged, Mary Surratt, 42, owns a boarding house where John Wilkes Booth and others met and planned the simultaneous attacks. Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer, Frederick Aiken, a 28-year-old Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt before a military tribunal. As the trial unfolds, Aiken realizes his client may be innocent and that she is being used as bait and hostage in order to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt, her own son.

Great article on the making of the film here.
