Video Interviews: Paul Bettany on PRIEST, and Karl Urban talks PRIEST and JUDGE DREDD!

Another 2010 San Diego Comic-Con set of video interviews for your viewing pleasure.  This time we’ve got Paul Bettany and Karl Urban talking about their roles in the upcoming post-apocalyptic action epic PRIEST.  These particular interviews were pretty hard to get.  The amount of press in the room was insane!  While my time with Paul was a little short, I did find out what a fan he was of John Wayne movies, and his favorite of Wayne’s films.  But man oh man did I get some good stuff from Karl Urban.  We talked about his role in PRIEST, the tone of the film, and then moved into talking about JUDGE DREDD.  Now since this interview took place there’s been a bit of online news regarding Urban playing Dredd, but at the time this was hot off the press!  I’m very happy to hear him say how true they’re making it to the source material.  And just because I had a chance to do so, I asked Karl if he realized how closely he resembled Robert Urich… something my buddy (and RED co-creator) Cully Hamner pointed out to me.  When you think about it, it’s uncanny.  I get the feeling Urban wasn’t as familiar with Urich… or the classic TV show VEGA$, but hey, it was a fun little bit of business.  Check out the videos below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.  Incidentally, if any Hollywood studio out there rushes a Dan Tanna movie into production with Urban in the lead, Cully and I hereby get a percentage for putting that idea out there.

And here’s the official trailer for the film…
