At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con there were a few press junkets and interviews I didn’t get into, and some I was actually a little upset about. Dimension Films was there promoting Alexander Aja’s PIRANHA 3-D… but alas, I was not invited to cover it. They snubbed me, and more importantly they ruined my chances of meeting Kelly Brook, and having her fall in love with me forever. I’ll never forgive them for that. The saddest part is I’ve actually been pushing the film here on the site, and was one of their first Twitter buddies… yeah, I know, who cares. Oh well, I’m still kind of looking forward to the film. Aja knows how to make unsettling horror, and the idea of him remaking/updating the PIRANHA franchise, and doing it in 3-D, is at the very least intriguing.
So if you can’t wait to get a taste of overly-hungry fish feeding on unsuspecting Spring Break drunks, or if your lifelong ambition is to see director Eli Roth die horribly, then the following sizzle reel is for you. I fully expect Dimension to have this taken down any moment now, so watch it while you can – also note this is a bootleg video, so the quality ain’t that great, and the audio is pretty soft, which again leads to the strong possibility this will be taken down soon. You’ll see the discovery of the piranha underwater, the first major attack of the little buggers, some girl-on-girl skinny dipping action, and a few spoiler-ish clips back to back. In fact, if you hate spoilers, you really don’t want to watch this. Warning – this 9 minute clip is incredibly violent and graphic, and there is some considerable nudity as well… including Kelly Brook toward the end, and to that I say “Thank you” to Alexander Aja.
PIRANHA 3-D opens August 20, 2010
