If you’re hungry for new Marvel Studios movies, next year should deliver quite a bit for ya. We’ve got CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD in February, then in May get ready for THUNDERBOLTS*, which is looking a lot like Marvel’s answer to the SUICIDE SQUAD. The cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Lewis Pullman as Robert Reynolds / Sentry, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr / Ghost, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Geraldine Viswanathan as Songbird, and Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff. In the comics, The Thunderbolts are very similar to the Suicide Squad in many way, a collection of highly-skilled side characters and rejects put together as a team, though you may notice the asterisk in the title, and the word “assemble” in the trailer – there is some suspicion that this team will eventually become “The Dark Avengers”, perhaps even at the film’s conclusion… and the Dark Avengers are in fact a team represented in Marvel Comics as well. This is directed by Jake Schreier (STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW) and hits theaters in May of 2025. Check out the new “special look” D23 Brazil trailer below (which is more than just a “teaser”) and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
