THE CROW trailer – James O’Barr’s classic comic book gets an update starring Bill Skarsgård

Being a huge fan of THE CROW comic books and original film, and (yes, I’ll name drop) longtime friends with creator James O’Barr, I’m a little nervous about seeing a new adaptation of his character, especially one I’m fairly certain he wasn’t consulted on at all. The first trailer for the new version of THE CROW features Bill Skarsgård (IT, BARBARIAN) in the lead, playing a man who witnesses the brutal murder of his girlfriend, then he also dies, somehow comes back to life, and is now seeking vengeance. There was an opportunity here to really pay tribute to the source material, but instead it looks like the film is basically retelling the same story the original movie did, only making it more like JOHN WICK. I do like the inclusion of the Ozzy Osbourne song, and I love Danny Huston in just about anything, plus the action sequences look pretty intense. I guess we’ll see if this new take can live up to the original, which would be really hard to beat. Take a look for yourself and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of THE CROW in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr.

Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

THE CROW opens in theaters Summer 2024
