SPIRITED trailer – Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell modernize A Christmas Carol for AppleTV

The classic story of A Christmas Carol has been a frequent focus for Hollywood, whether its faithful live action adaptations, or animated takes, and even the Muppets took a crack at it. There have also been attempts to update the story for modern times, like SCROOGED. The new movie SPIRITED looks to be another modern take and a bit more self-referential, including characters knowing the story of A Christmas Carol. Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer star in this AppleTV production, which will hit theaters one week before it goes to streaming. Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell) selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits. But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge. Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) turns the tables on his ghostly host until Present finds himself reexamining his own past, present and future. For the first time, ‘A Christmas Carol’ is told from the perspective of the ghosts in this hilarious musical twist on the classic Dickens tale.

SPIRITED hits theaters on November 11th, followed by AppleTV on November 18, 2022
