THE LITTLE MERMAID teaser trailer – Disney turns another animated classic into live action

Disney isn’t slowing down when it comes to producing live action versions of their animated classics, and one of the next big ones is THE LITTLE MERMAID, starring newcomer Halle Bailey (of singing group Chloe x Halle) as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian the crab, and Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder. Thanks to the D23 Expo going on right now, we can finally see the very first official teaser trailer for the film, which doesn’t show much, but does give us a taste of the new take on a classic song from the original. CHICAGO director Rob Marshall helms this take, Lin Manuel Miranda produces, and Alan Menken returns as composer, with the film featuring original songs by him and new tunes written by Miranda. Check out the teaser trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments. The original animated version of THE LITTLE MERMAID was released in 1989, this new version hits next year.
