Wonder what Gore Verbinski has been up to for the last 3 years?  The director of the PIRATES OF THE THE CARIBBEAN trilogy has re-teamed with Johnny Depp for the new animated film RANGO.  It’s a quirky and unusual-looking film, but may also end up being brilliant.  I think (just by seeing the trailer) that it has a great look, and listen to this voice cast: Timothy Olyphant, Abigail Breslin, Bill Nighy, Isla Fisher, Alfred Molina, Ray Winstone, Claudia Black, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Root, and Harry Dean Stanton… to name but a few.  It’s said that ILM is going to capture every nuance of Depp in the Rango character.  This could be one of the coolest animated films of all time, if done right.  Check out the trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

RANGO opens March 18, 2011
