Even if you don’t recognize the name Roland Emmerich, you definitely know his films. The blockbuster director has given us STARGATE, INDEPENDENCE DAY, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, 2012 and more. His newest is MOONFALL, which follows a plot that involves the moon for some reason starting to fall toward The Earth. A former astronaut (played by Halle Berry, because why not) may know a way to prevent this disaster from playing out, but if the trailer is any indication of what to expect, there may be more going on here than some bad gravity hijinks. Even the official studio plot synopsis indicates the moon is something other than what we know it to be, so we’re thinking… aliens! And listen to this supporting cast – Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak, and Donald Sutherland. This looks pretty crazy, and honestly, I can’t wait. I love films like this, even when they’re bad. Check out the new “Shocking Discovery” trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson, “Midway”) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley, “Game of Thrones”) believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.
