Paul Thomas Anderson’s LICORICE PIZZA trailer stars Alana Haim & Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son

It’s been a few years since we’ve had a film offering from Paul Thomas Anderson, but now he’s back with LICORICE PIZZA, his ninth movie that revolves around a high school student becoming an actor in the 1970s. Shades of BOOGIE NIGHTS perhaps, but this almost feels more like DAZED AND CONFUSED than anything else. One of the big selling points here could be the lead role played by Cooper Hoffman, son of the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was a frequent collaborator with Anderson. The cast also include Bradley Cooper, John C. Reilly, Tom Waits, Maya Rudolph, Sean Penn, Benny Safdie, Emma Dumont, Skyler Gisondo, and Alana Haim (of the band Haim). Check out the trailer below, and tell us your thoughts in the comments. Think this one is destined to be a classic?
