FREE GUY new trailer & release date – Ryan Reynolds is breaking the rules in a video game world

The new movie FREE GUY features Ryan Reynolds as a non-playable character living inside a video game, spending day after day watching bank robberies happen and never getting involved… until one day, bored of the repetition, he decides to take action, and suddenly realizes the rest of the world he’s been missing. The supporting cast includes Taika Waititi, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Camille Kostek, and Channing Tatum. This film was supposed to come out early last year, but (like many movies these days) was pushed back thanks to Covid-19, and is now hoping to open this December… and at this point, even the cast and crew is joking about whether or not that will actually happen. Check out the new trailer below (with a new release date underneath) and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

In “Free Guy,” a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way…before it is too late.

FREE GUY hits theaters August 13, 2021
