While the Disney STAR WARS cinematic efforts have met with mixed results, it seems like Disney+ hit a definite home run with THE MANDALORIAN, and has plenty more STAR WARS spin-offs in the planning stage. One of the most exciting is the OBI-WAN KENOBI limited series which sees the return of Ewan McGregor in the title role. McGregor’s casting as that character was easily one of the best qulaities of the George Lucas prequel trilogy. We already heard that Hawden Christensen would be returning as Anakin Skywalker, or rather Darth Vader. Now we know the rest of the cast for the Disney+ show, and it’s quite intriguing. Also returning from the prequel trilogy are Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Owen Lars and Beru Lars (as in “Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru”). Other cast members include Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. We should also note that Disney+ is calling this a “special event series”, so make of that what you will. The series is being directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed a few episodes of THE MANDALORIAN, and is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold (who is also writing). The series is scheduled to begin filming in April. Tell us what you think of the cast in the comments below.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
