With Covid-19 causing havoc in Hollywood, delaying several major releases, and in some cases leading to films passing theaters entirely and heading toward streaming services, there are a few big productions filmgoers are getting really tired of waiting for. One of the most-anticipated films of 2020 was and still is WONDER WOMAN 1984, which has already been delayed multiple times. Director Patty Jenkins was rather insistent that the movie needed to be seen on the big screen, and not by way of streaming. But she lost that battle when Warner Bros. announced the film will open in theaters on Christmas Day, but will also premiere on HBO Max simultaneously for those who prefer streaming. Now, thanks to Brazil’s Comic Con Experience, we get another new look at the film in the form of a one-minute trailer below.
The first WONDER WOMAN movie was set during World War I, and found our heroine fighting alongside Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and his team, falling in love, and then watching as Steve died while saving countless lives. The sequel finds us in 1984, and somehow Steve is back. Gal Gadot returns as Diana, with Patty Jenkins back in the director chair, and the cast also includes Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal (THE MANDALORIAN). Worthy of note, the screenplay for this one is written by Patty Jenkins, comic book writer extraordinaire Geoff Johns, and David Callaham… I mention this because almost everything Johns touched at DC Comics was pure gold, so having him lend his writing talents to a Wonder Woman film? That gets me pretty excited. This new trailer is similar to the most recent trailer, but does offer a few newer shots. Check it out below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah. As previously announced, the film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor.
