We originally posted about RUN back in February, as it was meant to come out on Mother’s Day weekend in May… and then, of course, Covid-19 hit us, and like most films it was delayed. Now, it’s moving to Hulu this November 20. If you saw director Aneesh Chaganty’s 2018 web camera thriller SEARCHING, you may realize he’s one of the most impressive new filmmakers to hit the scene in years. Now he’s back with another thriller, much more traditional in its style, but still looking very interesting. RUN stars Sarah Paulson as a mother to a wheelchair-bound daughter in need of constant care… but a mother who also may not be what she appears to be. As the daughter begins to find things out, she now must find a way to escape, which could prove quite difficult. Kiera Allen makes her feature debut here as the daughter in question, and uses a wheelchair in real life, so it’s nice to see casting a real life wheelchair user in a role like this instead of just an actor pretending to use one. In addition to Aneesh Chaganty, the SEARCHING producer team of Natalie Qasabian and Sev Ohanian are back as well, with Chaganty and Ohanian co-writing the screenplay. Pat Healy and Onalee Ames also star. Check out the new trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
They say you can never escape a mother’s love… but for Chloe, that’s not a comfort — it’s a threat. There’s something unnatural, even sinister about the relationship between Chloe (newcomer Kiera Allen) and her mom, Diane (Sarah Paulson). Diane has raised her daughter in total isolation, controlling every move she’s made since birth, and there are secrets that Chloe’s only beginning to grasp. From the visionary writers, producers and director of the breakout film Searching, comes a suspense thriller that shows that when mom gets a little too close, you need to RUN.
