In this day of competing streaming services, HBO Max is really hoping to get the attention of potential customers, and their new preview video is rather impressive. WarnerMedia has a nice selection of original series and movies, and hit shows and fan-favorite films that viewers will likely find to be worth a look. You can check out the video below, but some of the content worth noting includes original movies by Steven Soderbergh, an original sci-fi series produced by Ridley Scott, an intriguing show called THE THIRD DAY starring Jude Law and Naomie Harris, and even some Lovecraft horror… lots of cool stuff to choose from. LOVE LIFE – an American romantic comedy anthology web television series created by Sam Boyd that premiered on the HBO Max streaming service for its launch on May 27, 2020. In June 2020, the series was renewed for a second season. The cast includes Anna Kendrick, Zoë Chao, Peter Vack, and Sasha Compère.
LOONEY TUNES CARTOONS – an American animated web television series produced by Warner Bros. Animation, based on the characters from Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. The series premiered on HBO Max on May 27, 2020.
ADVENTURE TIME: DISTANT LANDS – four hour-long web television specials based on the American animated television series Adventure Time, produced by Cartoon Network Studios and Frederator Studios. The first special was released on HBO Max on June 25, 2020. The series at large follows the adventures of Finn (a human boy) and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake, a dog with magical powers to change shape and size at will.
DOOM PATROL – American web television series developed by Jeremy Carver for DC Universe. Based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name, the series features Jane (Diane Guerrero), Rita Farr (April Bowlby), Vic Stone (Joivan Wade), Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer / Matthew Zuk), Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser / Riley Shanahan), and the Chief (Timothy Dalton) as the members of the eponymous Doom Patrol. The series premiered on February 15, 2019, exclusively to DC Universe. Following the conclusion of the first season, it was announced that the second season would air on both DC Universe and HBO Max, with the two streaming services releasing episodes simultaneously in 2020.
EXPECTING AMY – Documentary series featuring Amy Shumer revolving around her real-life pregnancy.
THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT – New drama mystery series starring Kaley Cuoco (THE BIG BANG THEORY) and Rosie Perez.
LOVECRAFT COUNTRY MONSTER – Playing off the legacy of H.P. Lovecraft’s monstrous stories, this series hopes to capture the horror crowd’s interest. Starring Jurnee Smollett, Courtney B. Vance, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Jamie Chung.
RAISED BY WOLVES – produced by Ridley Scott and from writer Aaron Guzikowski (PRISONERS), this new Sci-Fi series centers upon two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task. Starring Niamh Algar, Travis Fimmel, and Jordan Loughran.
AN AMERICAN PICKLE – American comedy film directed by Brandon Trost in his directorial debut and starring Seth Rogen. The film is based upon the 2013 short story “Sell Out” by Simon Rich, who also wrote the film. Scheduled for release on August 6, 2020, by HBO Max, making it the first original film released by HBO Max.
LET THEM ALL TALK – upcoming comedy film directed by Steven Soderbergh starring Meryl Streep, Dianne Wiest, Lucas Hedges and Gemma Chan.
UNPREGNANT – American drama film directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg from a screenplay by Ted Caplan and Jenni Hendriks based upon their novel of the same name, starring Haley Lu Richardson, Barbie Ferreira, and Sugar Lyn Beard.
SUPERINTELLIGENCE – American action comedy film directed by Ben Falcone and written by Steve Mallory. Melissa McCarthy will star in what will be her fourth collaboration with Falcone (her husband).
CHARM CITY KINGS – American drama film directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a screenplay by Sherman Payne and a story by Kirk Sullivan, Chris Boyd, and Barry Jenkins, starring Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Meek Mill, Will Catlett, Teyonah Parris, Donielle Tremaine Hansley and Kezii Curtis. It is a film adaptation of the documentary 12 O’Clock Boys by Lofty Nathan.
Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE aka “The Snyder Cut” – upcoming director’s cut of the 2017 American superhero film of the same name. It presents the fifth film of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name—as director Zack Snyder had intended it before he left the production and Joss Whedon took over his duties. Like the theatrical release, Zack Snyder’s Justice League follows the Justice League — Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg as they attempt to save the world from the catastrophic threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons. This film is reportedly in post-production right now for an undisclosed LARGE amount of money.
