COFFEE & KAREEM trailer – Ed Helms does a raunchy buddy cop-ish comedy for Netflix

Ed Helms has had an interesting track record since becoming a big screen comedy star in THE HANGOVER years ago. Let’s just say some efforts have definitely been better than others. His newest is COFFEE & KAREEM (get it?), which is making its debut on Netflix, a lucky move considering the current situation with all major movie theaters being shut down. He plays Officer Coffee, and stars alongside Terrence Little Gardenhigh, who plays a street smart young man who also happens to be the disapproving son of Coffee’s girlfriend. When Kareem tries to take down Coffee, he accidentally captures footage of drug dealers carrying out a murder… and now these two mismatched fellas much work together to stay alive. We’ve certainly seen this sort of comedy before, but I actually got some good chuckles from the trailer. It looks inspired and irreverent enough to be worth a watch, and with no new movies hitting theaters, the timing for this one is pretty good. Directed by Michael Dowse (GOON), the cast also includes the great Taraji P. Henson, Betty Gilpin, RonReaco Lee, Andrew Bachelor, and David Alan Grier. Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

In the raunchy, buddy-cop comedy Coffee & Kareem, twelve-year-old Kareem Manning hires a criminal to scare his mom’s new boyfriend — police officer James Coffee — but it backfires, forcing Coffee and Kareem to team up in order to save themselves from Detroit’s most ruthless drug kingpin.

COFFEE & KAREEM hits Netflix on April 3, 2020
