Has the void left by the HARRY POTTER film series ending made you wistful for another young man with magical adventures to dominate the big screen? If so ARTEMIS FOWL may be the answer you’re looking for. Based on the fan-favorite novel by Eoin Colfer, the story follows a 12-year-old boy genius named Artemis Fowl as he searches for his missing father in an advanced world of fairies. Artemis is played by fresh face Ferdia Shaw, and the cast includes Judi Dench, Josh Gad, Nonso Anozie, Lara McDonnell, and Hong Chau. The new trailer gives you a much better idea of what to expect than the teaser trailer last year. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh, and has been in the works for quite a while – the book came out 17 years ago. This was actually supposed to hit theaters last year, but was pushed back… that Ferdia kid playing the lead may be an adult soon at this rate. Tell us your thoughts on the new trailer in the comments.
Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.
Hmmm, looks like they made the movie less edgy than the book series. Read them all to my son Zach over the years.
