Jeremy Renner is Hawkeye in THE AVENGERS movie – team lineup outlined

After months of rumors that THE HURT LOCKER star was in talks to become Hawkeye in THE AVENGERS movie, it looks like Jeremy Renner may finally have the job.  Big week for Marvel movie news, eh?  HeatVisionBlog is reporting that Renner is in final negotiations to join the Marvel Studios epic team film, being directed by Joss Whedon. Originally a villain, the character was not one of the original team members back in the ’60 when THE AVENGERS first came to be, but over the years has been a fan-favorite and important part of the team mythology.

So we have the line-up (so far) for the group – Renner as Hawkeye, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow (that’s apparently confirmed), Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle as War Machine (a somewhat odd inclusion if you ask me). Many are wondering if The Hulk may also be in the film, though currently there’s not a deal on the table for bringing in Edward Norton. Even Norton seemed to claim he had no knowledge when doing press recently for LEAVES OF GRASS. Marvel is reportedly keeping a lid on the financials for THE AVENGERS, and the actors involved are said to be taking salary cuts according to inside sources. A movie like this could be a massive undertaking, so hopefully Joss Whedon can keep it under control. I’ve always liked Renner, and I think he’ll make a fine Hawkeye. Are you excited about the movie? Think Hawkeye is a good addition? Tell us in the comments below.
